The Mini Micro Missile

At the other extreme in age brackets was the the famous Ed "Foxy Grandpa" Delano who was 74 at the time. Ed, a multi-year IHPVA International Speed Championships competitor used the Van Valkenburg "Aeroshell" (shown above during one of his runs at the Speedway).
We earlier decide to promote a "Battle of the Ages" between Ed and the Mini Micro Missile team riders. We all had a lot of fun as a result! The question we'll never have the answer to is: did he let Michelle barely beat him on purpose or not? Ed attained a best 200 meter run of 29.03 MPH - sounds suspicious. Earlier, super nice guy Foxy, said he thought he would best his 33.69 MPH of the previous year because he was only 73 then, and now had more experience!

Ed "Foxy Grandpa" Delano riding hard!
He was a younger 62 when this photo was taken. Quite the strong healthy animal!

"Foxy" was great with the Little People Power Team for the TV people. He would typically end the interviews by bending down to the youngster's height and shaking a finger at them. Then he would warn them "OK - you kids - you better be in good shape for this race"!

Michelle and Keith shown here with the Team's SECRET WEAPON! Harliegh Langford, a 6 foot 4 inch, 225 pound former boxer and bouncer. Because of high fixed gearing on some of the Streamliners, the IHPVA rules allow the vehicles to be shoved off by hand at the start. Thus, Harliegh was the first stage booster for the "Missile". The Little People Power Team nicknamed Harliegh "Sumwut" because his physique was "somewhat" less than incredible!
